Musical concert on AIDS awareness for February January 9, 2006 :: Thisday A Nigeria based company, Dasab Promotion services, in conjunction with a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Youth Aids for Africa, will next month flag-off series of musical concert, to create awareness on AIDS. The concert holds in Lagos, in February, after which it will move round all 36 states of the country, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as well as other African states. According to the statement, Youth AIDS for Africa has chosen to create awareness on the dreaded killer disease through musical concert, "because of the organisation's belief that messages easily sink into youths through music." The concert, which will feature at least 15 top African artistes and comedian, is designed to sensitise African youths on the dangers of illicit sex and other immoral behaviours through which they can acquire HIV/AIDS. The statement said "it is imperative to teach, educate and warn our youth on the danger of AIDS through the language they can understand easily, and we have discovered that the language is music."
Besides the youths including students of secondary and tertiary institutions, top government functionaries are also expected to witness the flag-off of the AIDS campaign concert in Lagos.
