February 6, 2007 :: Hanmed Shittu,Ilorin, ThisDay,Lagos

Project Secretary, Kwara State Action Committee on AIDS, Mr J.S Bamidele, at the weekend said about 10 percent of the state population is HIV/AIDS positive, with Offa, Kaima and Moro being the mostly affected local goverment councils. Bamidele said this in Ilorin, during a one-day sensitisation workshop on HIV/AIDS, organised by the state Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources Action Committee on AIDS. According to him, the statistical survey and studies on the world's most killer disease have indicated three Local Government Areas of the state, which have the highest number of the cases out of 16 local government areas. He said Nigeria is the third country with the highest number of people living with the virus in the world after India and South Africa. He described HIV/AIDS as global epidemic that deserve very urgent attention of all and advised every Nigerian to preach and abide by the ABC formula of Abstaining from Casual Sex, being Faithful to one's partner in marraige and Condom usage. Bamidele said the only way out of this problem was for partners to be loyal to themselves and stay way from anything that may hinder their lives.
